Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre
Details
FCS Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre is situated on the southern shores of Clatterringshaws Loch, a reservoir created as part of the Ken and Dee hydro-electric scheme back in the 1930s. The location provides excellent views accross the loch as well as a series of short and longer walks around the picturesque loch and nearby hills. You can visit a partly reconstructed round house or take a slightly longer walk to the Bruce's Stone (owned by National Trust for Scotland) on Raploch Moss, a historical site where the Scots defeated English troops, under the command of Robert the Bruce.

The visitor centre is a useful source of information about wildlife in the Galloway Forets Park and is a great place to stop for refreshments and light lunches, while watching video footage of breeding red kites in the cafeteria. You will be welcomed by friendly staff, who will be happy to provide information or answer any queries about places to visit.
