Over the last few years the Galloway Kite Trail has developed into a major tourist attraction for Dumfries and Galloway and is a source of nature-based tourism to benefit local communities in the area. In so doing, the trail is helping to strengthen the 'ownership' of the kites by local communities and tourist operators.

The ongoing success and development of the trail ensures that this valuable means of attracting visitors is set to become more and more important to the local economy.
